RENT YOUR JEANS: MUD JEANS

Written by The Sustainable Buyer

Mud Jeans are our favourite earth friendly jean brand. The brand was founded in 2012 in the Netherlands.

Jeans are traditionally one of the wardrobes most guilty and according to Dana Thomas, 5 billion pairs are produced annually. Producing 1 pair of jeans can result in water pollution from dyeing and air pollution from chemicals and cotton dust as well as requiring  heaps of water to grow cotton (specifically 1500 gallons for 1.5 pounds to make one pair of jeans). Later on in life jeans are hard to recycle due to the metal components.

Over at Mud, the jeans are made in Tunisia where their factory is able to recycle 96% of its water. The jeans contain up to 40% post-consumer recycled denim and organic cotton and are produced without the nasty effects of traditional dyes. Across the entire supply chain workers are paid above the living wage.

And the best part – you can rent them!!! You can rent your jeans and at the end of your rental period, they will take them off your hands and recycle them. The circular economy is here!

So, here’s the deal:
... you will pay a monthly fee of €7,50 for 12 months and a one-off 29€ subscription fee. After the 12 monthly payments, you will stop paying! At this point, you have 3 options: keep them longer, switch them or return them for recycling.

Here’s a 15% off code to seal the deal if you weren’t convinced already: mudmmlz2x13i4mkk
