Compostable sunglasses: Pela Vision

Written by The Sustainable Buyer

You may know Pela already from their compostable phone cases. The phone cases are made in Canada  from a bioplastic called Flaxstic® which is a form of flax plant straw. The material is usually a waste product! So it’s a win for both the environment and business.

Pela have now added sunglasses to their repertoire, under the brand name Pela Vision. Traditionally sunglasses are made from plastics and metals. As the materials are combined this makes them difficult to recycle. Pela Vision allows you to recycle their glasses by returning them or to compost them! This innovation diverts sunglasses from landfill.

To sweeten the deal, they are a B-Certified corp and are committed to the 1% for planet scheme.
